In recent years, the free-market economist and the contrarian Austrian school he led midcentury have been turned into a hashtag deployed by tax-wary workers. Ludwig von Mises From Mises Institute“Ludwig von Mises is Latin America’s leading economist,” declared the headline of a Bloomberg opinion piece earlier this month by economist Tyler Cowen. His free-market policy prescriptions, framed by an economic thinking centered on human behavior and individual choice, were widely considered out of fashion at the time. “That is my jam!” Shapiro said of the Austrian school. “If you start to understand the concept of the Austrian economic school,” Moicano said in a recent YouTube video, “you’re going to understand that’s what I need: free market, liberties, and wealth, my brother.

Hundreds of demonstrators protested on Sunday outside an Orthodox Jewish synagogue in Teaneck, N.J., where 35 Israeli real estate companies were promoting their properties to potential American buyers. Cars honked in support, or drivers and passengers flung vitriol at the demonstrators. The demonstrators traded profanities and taunts with a much smaller group of pro-Israel counter-demonstrators, and police had to break up a few potential fights, but overall they kept the two groups separated. The real estate show, at Congregation Keter Torah, is one of several in the area this month that have sparked heated protests. And just before the local events, at a sales event outside Toronto last weekend, a man was arrested on charges of attacking pro-Palestinian demonstrators with a nail gun.

Over his 54 years as a financial analyst, Richard X. Bove perfected the art of grabbing attention. Through thousands of newspaper interviews, cable news appearances and radio segments, Mr. Bove turned what can be a dull, by-the-numbers career into a more showy one. In an interview with The New York Times, Mr. Bove (pronounced “boe-VAY”), who goes by Dick, shared a dire outlook on the U.S. economy and his former profession. Many analysts are rewarded for coming up with unique but inconsequential and “arcane” ideas, he said, peppering his criticism with profanities. Mr. Bove worked at 17 brokerage firms during his career.

Josh Shapiro has a new slogan for how he wants to run Pennsylvania — and it's not fit for kids' ears. “There’s children here, so we’ll just say ‘stuff.’”That was the G-rated version of the line he’s been delivering in recent months. His social media team also has used the phrase online in videos. One of Shapiro's fellow Pennsylvania Democrats, U.S. Sen. John Fetterman, cussed routinely on social media while on his way to winning the Senate seat in 2022. Still, Fetterman — known for his blunt and irreverent talk — generally confined his profanities to his writings on social media when describing his disdain for, say, Pennsylvania's relatively low minimum wage.

Burned out and disillusioned, Murdock now lives in Scotland, where freedom is a reality and nobody lives in fear of guns. The death toll is growing because the weapons now available, and the right to carry them outside the home, are new. With Reagan’s arrival in the White House in 1981, the conversation shifted from controlling guns to “protecting” gun owners. A weapon that vastly exceeds the killing power of the Tommy guns banned in the 1930s is affordable and freely accessible.

CNN —The Philippines has banned for life an American traveler whom it accused of writing “profane words” on a digital immigration form and being rude to immigration officers. Anthony Laurence, 34, was refused entry and put on a blacklist permanently following his allegedly “disrespectful” behavior, the Philippine Bureau of Immigration Commissioner Norman Tansingco said in a statement last week. Laurence, who told CNN he is a property investor who lives in the country intermittently, disputes the immigration authority’s account. He did not respond to CNN’s questions about what he wrote on the form and whether it included any profanities. CNN —Former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has alleged that Russian President Vladimir Putin “must have killed” Wagner boss Yevgeny Prigozhin and said there can be no peace negotiation with Putin on Ukraine. It is not clear yet what caused the plane crash, but US and Western intelligence officials that CNN has spoken to believe it was deliberate. GOA, India — My niece was just 4 years old when she turned to my sister-in-law in a packed movie theater in Mumbai and asked about gang rape for the first time. We were watching the latest Bollywood blockbuster about vigilante justice, nationalistic fervor and, of course, gang rape. Didi’s gang rape took place offscreen, but it didn’t need to be shown. You may wonder, “Why take a 4-year-old to such a movie?” But there is no escaping India’s rape culture; sexual terrorism is treated as the norm. India’s favorite profanities are about having sex with women without their consent.

Lauren Boebert is divorcing Jayson Boebert, her husband of nearly two decades. A process server delivering divorce papers said that Jayson Boebert yelled profanities at him. He also said he did not do "anything bad" to the process server, and maintained that his dogs were "no threat." Lauren Boebert said in a statement to The Colorado Sun on Tuesday that she was breaking up with Jayson Boebert due to "irreconcilable differences." Jayson Boebert's attorney and and representatives of Lauren Boebert did not immediately respond to Insider's requests for comment sent outside regular business hours.
GOP Rep. Lauren Boebert confirmed that she filed for divorce from her husband Jayson. The Colorado Sun first reported that Boebert filed for the separation from her husband, Jayson, late last month. According to an affidavit, when Jayson Boebert was served with the petition he became "extremely angry." In her statement, Boebert said that she will not "discuss this matter any further in public" in deference to their kids. The Republican previously announced that her oldest son, Tyler, is about to have a son, making her a 36-year-old grandmother.
Inside them were oranges. Oranges, the fruit. Over the next three days, 8,000 people in Ivrea would throw 900 tons of oranges at one another, one orange at a time, while tens of thousands of other people watched. They would throw the oranges very hard, very viciously, often while screaming profanities at their targets or yowling like Braveheart. And on that day in February, three years of constrained energy was due to explode all at once.
Posting to social media sounded like an easy work-from-home gig, so he applied. This post from the Prigozhin-backed Social CMS network in Mexico referred to America as "we." He verified his account by providing chat transcripts, screenshots, contracts, and internal company documents. "I didn't know who are you," wrote the person who is listed in the corporate directory as Prigozhin's media liaison.
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene went off the rails during an intel briefing, a report said. She shouted expletives during the briefing on a Chinese spy balloon, the report claimed. "When she got to ask questions," the lawmaker told the outlet, "she was yelling out saying 'bullshit,' and, you know, 'I don't believe you.'" I was I think the second to last person, and I chewed them out just like the American people would've," Greene told The Hill. When reports emerged last week that a Chinese spy balloon had been detected flying over the US, Greene criticised President Joe Biden's response and called for him to order the balloon to be shot down immediately.
Former Memphis officer Demetrius Haley never told Tyre Nichols why he was pulled over. Department records say Haley approached Nichols while talking on the phone in a black hoodie. He yelled profanities, despite no evidence that Nichols ever swore at or threatened officers. "You never told the driver the purpose of the vehicle stop or that he was under arrest." A day after Nichols' beating, the department released a statement describing a "confrontation" with an alleged reckless driver, later identified as Tyre Nichols.

The Nichols family legal team has likened the assault to the infamous 1991 police beating of Los Angeles motorist Rodney King. Security camera footage shows three officers surrounding Nichols as he lies in the street cornered between police cars, with a fourth officer nearby. The body camera footage shows a first-person view of one of them reaching down and tying his shoe. The footage shows a number of other officers standing around after the beating. During the traffic stop, the video shows the officers were "already ramped up, at about a 10," she said.
The daughter of House Democratic Whip Katherine Clark, D-Mass., was arrested during a protest in downtown Boston on Saturday and charged with assault after a police officer was injured. Clark tweeted Sunday about her daughter's arrest, saying, “I love Riley, and this is a very difficult time in the cycle of joy and pain in parenting. An officer was hit in the face and was seen bleeding from the nose and mouth, police said. Clark’s daughter was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, destruction or injury of personal property, damage of property by graffiti or tagging, and resisting arrest, and is expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court, police said. Clark has expressed concern publicly for her daughter, who she says identifies as nonbinary, in light of recent incidents of bigotry against the transgender community.
